The Phoenix

I'm the cut branch that has regrown
and has another home to call my own.
Different from anything else known,
I live the Universe's lives all alone.

With a hot heart that's vexed
and a gaze so perplexed,
I gaze at the candle dangling on the mirror's edge
that lights the truth hidden behind the hedge.

I will soon have to kill you in my mind :
How much different will you be a find ?
Reflections await for those who gaze within
and the candle's light looks so dim
to me every now and then :
Will those who venture for the truth awaken again ?

Too long have I been roaming around,
avoiding what must be found.
The Phoenix looks onto the ground :
From ashes to ashes, he sits on top of the mound.

He seeks the answers of life and death
that were asked for since his first breath :
The answer to his reveries
are the origin of his memories.
